Talking About Preventative Plumbing Services

Hey there, my name is Russell Tyson. I am going to use this site to educate my readers about services offered by plumbing professionals. When I first started my company, I was unaware of all the necessary plumbing procedures needed to keep the toilets from backing up. My clients often failed to notify me when a toilet started to fail, likely due to embarrassment or a lack of time. Luckily, I was clued into the value of hiring plumbers to perform regular maintenance and repairs on the toilets to keep them in fine shape. I hope to detail those services on this site to inspire others to embrace preventative plumbing procedures.

3 Reasons To Regularly Maintain Your Ductwork

by Charlie Clarke

Though your heating unit plays an important role in heating your home to a comfortable temperature, it isn't the only component necessary for efficiently warming your home's various spaces. Your heating and cooling system uses a system of tubes to move air to various portions of your home; this system is your home's ductwork. Keep reading to learn a few reasons as to why it's important to regularly maintain your ductwork.

1. Your Heating System Will Be More Energy Efficient With Properly Maintained Ductwork

The warm air produced by your home's heating system moves through the ductwork to the cool portions of your home. Over time, your ductwork starts to separate at the seams that connect the system's pieces.

Once these seams split, warm air will have a chance to escape; this means that it won't make it to the portions of your home that you're trying to heat. You'll have to run your heating system harder and longer to get your home at your desired temperature.

You can prevent this from happening by having your ductwork regularly inspected and repaired when necessary. Your heating contractor can repair cracks in the ductwork with aluminum tape. If your ductwork is old or not sufficient for a newer heating system, your heating contractor can replace the ductwork with newer, more energy-efficient ducts.

It's best to leave ductwork repairs and replacement to a professional; they can make sure that your ducts are properly installed so that they achieve their maximum lifespan and operate as efficiently as possible.

2. The Air in Your Home Will Be Cleaner

In addition to repairing and replacing your ductwork, you also need to have it regularly cleaned. With extended usage, contaminants from your home's air will gather in your home's ductwork. These contaminants may include things like mold, mildew, pet dander, and dust spores.

Cleaning your ductwork is an effective way to improve the air quality in your home. The contaminants in your ducts can also create clogs that decrease the efficiency of your heating system. Regular duct cleanings can also help you keep your heating costs affordable.

3. Your Heating System Will Be Less Noisy

If you're accustomed to your heating system making a variety of sounds, it may not occur to you that there's a way to reduce the noisiness of your unit. However, if parts of your ductwork are starting to degrade or aren't properly connected, your ducts will make a lot of rumbling when your heating system is running. Once you have these damaged or worn-out components repaired, you should notice that your heating system operates quieter.
